Magnetospheric Ion Composition Sensor (MICS) from the Charge and Mass Magnetospheric Ion Composition Experiment (CAMMICE) suite

ResourceID
spase://SMWG/Instrument/POLAR/CAMMICE-MICS

Description

The CAMMICE-MICS results include the ion charge state, mass, and incident energy between ~1keV/e to 420keV/e. The sensor consists of an ogive-shaped electrostatic analyzer, a secondary-electron generation/detection system, and a solid state detector which measure the energy, time of flight, and energy per charge of the incident ions. Spatial resolution 3 degrees FWHM conical at 90 degrees to the spin axis. Temporal resolution is 204 seconds for the full spectrum, with a 1/32 spin minimum sample time. Energy resolution is 15%. Sensitivity range is from 1 to 5E7 particles/(cm^2steradiansec).
